After nearly six decades of serving communities through McDonald’s restaurants, Bear Family Restaurants completed a phased transition of its restaurant operations in 2025, concluding with the sale of its final 25 locations on December 16. At its peak, the family proudly operated 35 restaurants across the region.

While this chapter has closed, the Bear family remains deeply rooted in Elgin. Their home office continues to operate locally, and their commitment to community involvement continues through BFRx Hospitality, the next evolution of the Bear Family legacy.
